As a goalie who …
As a goalie who played with a competetive team, I can say that they did have girls playing both out and goal. The trouble is, if you want to be a solid team, you’ve got to get a keeper that stays as a keeper, but sometimes people are forced into jumping into goalkeeping. I play out of net, and I enjoy playing forward a lot, but I am going to say I’m not as good as our best forward. At most I’m at par with some of them or below. It’s still easier to go from goal to something else than vice versa.

I completely disagree with the last part of your comment. I have a friend who plays both baseball/softball and basketball, and as much as I love her she’s not a keeper. She can play the position alright, but not to the scope of a real keeper. Unless you’re one yourself, you don’t understand how stressful and involving the position is, it’s more than just sticking yourself in the way of balls and catching, it’s like what Hope says; you’ve got to read plays, through balls, challenge for them, etc.

hope is 100% …
hope is 100% correct you cant just stick some player in the goal and expect them to be good at it. goalkeeping takes will and passion and drive and i think that every goalkeeper female or male should know that. and if you disagree then you seriouslt need to get a clue.

The american team defense needs to keep there eye on the ball not the player, that is why brazil did what they did. Improve our defense and get a better coach.

i think hope is a great keeper and i disagree wholeheartedly w/ ryan’s decision. in fact, i dont think anyone agrees w/ his decision. it was a terrible move
but no one will feel sorry if she continues w/ this attiude of hers.

That silly team …
That silly team mentality lead to few people in the team questioning the Coach’s (I refuse to mention even his name) decisions before and during the Cup. Like lemmings jumping to the sea in mass suicide, the other women in the team and Scurry failed to stand up to his misguided training and leadership. I hope Solo gets to play for someone else in the Olympics if necesary, hopefully shooting out her formerly lame American team.

It sucks that she is such a kick keeper cuz she will most likely never get to play in another game. even if you dont agree with the coach you so dont sayit in an interview, you support your team always no matter what happens. and what she says in this video about not just any athliet being able to be a keeper is crap cuz any softball volleyball or basketball player can be a keep.

All of us who have come to US from abroad know that MLS is the most boring league in the world, Beckham didn’t help at all, The women’s is the best the world, most coaches have been good except this one who sited Hope. Brazil made USA look bad with their individual skills. Try to get a new coach.

s participation in the team this year will likely be over time deleted, replaced with negative propaganda, etc. That is how media perceptions are manipulated both in times of peace or war. They are laying the ground work for kiccking her oput of the program. She was not even present at the awards ceremony at the end of the cup.

i mean, i used to play keeper for over 5 years and i kno its tough but hope seems to be a bit self centered. if u heard her post game reaction after the semis u kno what i mean
in addition, i kno that she probably isnt trying to diss fieldplayers. she is probably just trying to make a comment on goalkeeping but it surely doesnt come off that way

i’m not saying u can just jump in and be a goal keeper, but u cant just jump in and be a good fieldplayer either. idk, maybe she is trying to say that a player can just switch from mid to forward and still be great… but even then that is not true. sure it is easier than going from mid to goalie… but if you are a goalie at a competitive level then you are most likely only going to be playing goalie. therefore, there is no “jumping into goalkeeping” except at the beginning of your career.

I like watching …
I like watching women’s soccer because the passing is better. Esp. the Brazilian squad this year in WC China 07. The problem with US soccer is that you have dumb coaches! They do not emphasize touch, passing, or dribbling. US/English soccer has no skill, and rely on brute force than finesse to score like the Brazilian! Its good for women to have soccer, its the only sport that has equality.

OK bud…You cant compare womans and mens soccer. Although the US womans league is more successfull, they couldnt not outplay the mens team. Thats just a fact of the matter. By the way, I have been playing for over 15 years and the last 5 have been with a professional team. Yes somewoman teams are pretty skilled, but when you compare the the top mens team to the top womens team it is a whole other level. More so because of genetics.

i’d like to see your qualifications for calling me an idiot. i’ve been playing soccer competitively for over a decade, so I think that i am in a pretty good position to make this call. off! ‘whole different level’? according to who? how the should you know? I play against women all the time, and they play at the same level as my teams do. sometimes higher, sometimes lower, but that is also true of the men’s teams. back off, cockbite.
